For those who had fully impacted wisdom teeth removed, what was the recovery process like for you?
Hi all!
I'm 31, still have all of my wisdom teeth. But, my dentists have been pushing me for years to get at least the bottom two out. I'd seen an oral surgeon when I was a teen about my wisdom teeth, and he advised a wait and see approach due to how small my mouth is and how difficult of a procedure it would be due to that, and the fact that my wisdom teeth don't bother me.
But ever since moving states and thus seeing a new dentist, they've been pushing for me to get them out.
I only have one wisdom tooth on the top, but that guy is all the way up by my sinuses and my dentist doesn't think it's likely to ever cause much of a problem. But he's concerned about my bottom two, fully impacted wisdom teeth, which are positioned horizontally. He's worried about the potential impact on my second molars, which he admittedly thinks will eventually have to be removed anyway because my mouth is so cramped those guys weren't even able to erupt through the gum completely (he did a bit of procedure recently to stitch my gums in a way so the full chewing surface is exposed, thankfully).
I've been ignoring the referrals to an oral surgeon, admittedly because I have pretty bad dental phobia, and the thought of getting my wisdom teeth removed terrifies me.
So, I was just curious, for those of you who have had completely impacted wisdom teeth removed, what was it like? How was the recvoery?
