Which fantasy books lead you to Wheel of Time?

I’m curious how people found their way to WoT. I’m guessing that you didn’t start there but with other, perhaps less extensive fantasy book. And I’m guessing that this answer might be pretty different based on when you grew up.

Here’s my path: - Belgariad, David Eddings - Lord of the Rings & Hobbit, Tolkien - Dragonlance Chronicles, Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman - Riftwar Saga, Raymond E. Feist - Death Gate Cycle, Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman - Wheel of Time
