Chaol’s character
I know he is probably the most polarizing character in the TOG series but I genuinely do not understand the lack of empathy for him!!! There are so many flawed characters that are still loved by the fandom but Chaol gets soooo much criticism from the majority of it! He was a naive, loyal, YOUNG man who was scared, overwhelmed, and didn’t want anyone to get hurt (books 1-3). I don’t think anyone can say they were morally perfect at 20-22 years old (or however old he is, around there I believe) and made entirely smart decisions. His point about being scared of Aelin’s magic, stating “how can anyone have that much magic and not be checked” is a valid concern! Just like many of us are concerned about corrupt billionaires and politicians. Not saying he was a perfect boyfriend by keeping information from Celaena regarding Nehemia, but I don’t think that makes him a villain.
TLDR: As much as I love Aelin with Rown, my heart broke for Celaena and Chaol!!
