Movie Adaptation ideas
SPOILERS ON THIS THREAD!!
I just finished reading the series and it was so amazing & so heartbreaking. I would just LOVE to see TOG be an epic movie series like Harry Potter- which I feel like we haven't had. Here are some things I would do if I were in the room where it happens... i want to see your ideas too!!
age characters up (I know this is popular on here) I'd make Aelin like 25 and the others corresponding ages.
lengthen timeline (also popular) because the book timeline is so short. Since the movies would take 8ish years to make, lengthening the time of the series would make the impact all that much greater. Perhaps Aelin trains in mistward for a whole year and the impact of her growing tie to Rowan feels all the more real.
Since the characters are aged up, a younger actress could be TAB celaena still at 16 and I imagine it as a miniseries on streaming where each story gets an hour long episode to do it justice.
more controversial....
Eliminate Dorian/celaena romance. idk for me it was such a little side blip in the beginning and I feel like Dorian and Aelin's relationship would be so sweet if they were just bffs the whole time and the first two movies focused on complexity with Chaol. Reading the books it always slightly bothered me that she had a different love interest each book for the first half of the series.
Incorporate Elide into Aelin's childhood. Since Marion was so significant, I think it would be nice if Aelin and Elide were friends when she wasn't in Perranth and it would make their reunion so much sweeter.
Make Aelin and Aedion first counsins / simplify their family tree. I think for the books we can deep dive and understand the intricacies of the family trees but for the screen get rid of the red herring Aelin marrying Aedion comments and just making them cousins.
Kingdom of Ash as a two part movie with the first part ending at the battle of Anielle. And make TOD a mini series like TAB. This way we could get world building of the southern continent and perserve the TOG movies as Aelin's story.
What do you think?
