I Accidentally Made My Mom Redundant at Her Office Job

At my tech job, AI assistants have boosted productivity so much we’ve almost stopped hiring. It made me wonder: why isn’t AI used more in small businesses?

My mom works in the office of a small local manufacturing company, handling repetitive tasks like inputting orders into their ERP system. After shadowing her for a half day, I built an AI program that automates most of her work. Now she has so much free time, she’s watching Netflix at the office lol

I’m thinking of quitting my job and starting my own small local business, offering this as a service to other small businesses in the era, but before I jump on it and quit my current job, I’d love to know if this is a more common issue.

My main question are:

  • What’s the most repetitive/time-consuming (computer) tasks you wish you could automate?
  • If possible, could you break it down step by step with a lot of boring details ? 😅
  • Any hacks or tools you've found to make things easier so far?

And maybe what else I should think on that I am missing before quitting my job and starting my own business?
