Adopting an older puppy

For those who bought or adopted an older puppy/young adult collie (around 1 year old), what was your experience?

The rough collie we’re considering getting just turned 1 year old and is kept outdoors during the day and sleeps in a kennel at night. She is from a reputable breeder, has been well-socialized, and her temperament seems like a good match for us (cuddly, gentle, a bit on the mellower side).

On one hand it would be great to avoid that initial young puppy phase and also to know the dog’s temperament beforehand. On the other hand, I’m worried about the transition to an indoor dog for an older puppy who’s used to being outdoors all the time and just don’t know what to expect since we got our last collie at 10 weeks old.
