Earlier this morning, we rushed this poor cat to the vet to remove the collar that was painfully stuck in her mouth. After a thorough assessment, the vet discovered that her jaw is swollen and her mouth is filled with pus due to trauma caused by the collar. 😿💔
Thankfully, the collar was successfully removed, but her mouth is still stuck open. The vet ran several tests including a complete blood count, blood chemistry, and an X-ray to check for any underlying issues. Fortunately, the tests revealed that the infection is limited to her mouth. They cleaned her mouth and identified an infected tooth, which had to be extracted. 🦷💉
The vet has recommended confinement for her because she’s severely dehydrated and hasn’t eaten for days. They’ve also inserted an NGT (nasogastric tube) to help her get the nutrition she needs without worsening the infection in her mouth. Her condition, while not extremely critical, requires close monitoring. 🏥🐾
Her initial vet expenses, totaling ₱5,850 (~$105), have already been paid, but we’re unsure how much the succeeding days of treatment will cost. Right now, her confinement is on a day-to-day basis, costing ₱1,500/day (~$27/day), and we are unsure how long she will need to stay in the clinic. We are urgently seeking your support to cover her vet expenses and ensure she gets the treatment she desperately needs. 💸🙏
