Equality between men and women in Islam

I understand that men and women in Islam are judged in equality, in regard to their deeds, by God and in the sense that they will be compensated for their deeds in similar ways. But beyond this, where is evidence in the Qur’an for the equality of women and men in terms of their status? Men inherit more than women, there is an absence of female Prophets (mentioned in the Qur’an) and perhaps an absence in totality, there are less women mentioned in the Qur’an than there are men (i think, i am actually unsure about this). There are also the issues of needing two female witnesses vs one man, women not being able to be imams. I think there is more I can mention. How does this suggest the equality of women and men in status, in Islam?
