Any parents keeping their teens off social media? How's it going?

My boys are still pre-social media, aside from occasionally watching YouTube videos on the TV. As they approach the age where they will have their own phones and want social media, I am seriously considering not allowing its use. But I wonder if that is responsible or if it would have unintended consequences. Any thoughts?

And I am aware they will find a way to be on social outside of the home, but if we can limit it most of the time, I think that could be a good thing. Thanks!
