Day to Day of Petroleum Engineer

Hey y'all, so I've been accepted into the Petroleum Engineering program at TAMU and I was wondering what the typical day of a Petroleum Engineer looks like. I have just under two years of experience in the patch (W2 and Contract work), my work experience has primarily been on a mixing-plant and late-stage completion Flowback work, though I've worked production jobs as well. I also have some experience helping assist our Pump-Down, Water-Transfer, and Containments divisions. This work gave me a true appreciation for the O&G industry and I knew that I wanted to pursue it further, but at a more academic level. As of now I've been working at an Engineering Firm remotely doing Distribution Make-Ready for large Energy Clients. I am hoping to get a field engineering internship this summer to get back out into the field, but I'm curious as to what the day to day life of most Petroleum Engineers looks like. I have this idea of going back out to the field and becoming a company man because I just can't see myself rotting away in an office while I'm still young, but I'm unsure how realistic that is. Hoping you guys (and gals) can provide some insight as to what I can expect.

Take care and stay safe out there.
