Concerns With My S&W M&P Shield Plus

I took my shield plus out to the range today. It's my first time shooting it, I bought it back in December (I know). I was not impressed. The recoil was not fun to deal with & the safety engaged more than twice while attempting to do one handed drills (video below). I'm sure it was a user error, because I think I was holding it too tight, but have this ever happened to any of you guys before? What could be the culprit? On the other hand, my Glock 19 shot flawlessly, smooth as butter.
