What are your thoughts on asymmetrical toes?

Hello, fellow knitters!

I‘ve recently read some instructions for knitting asymmetrical toes (to get a left sock and a right sock) and decided to try them out. The idea is that these socks will fit better and that there won‘t be any excess fabric bothering you in your shoes as a result.

I‘ve only worn my new pair once so far, but I haven’t noticed much of a fit difference compared to my socks with symmetrical toes. I also haven’t seen many sock patterns with asymmetrical toes yet and am wondering why they aren’t more common (or perhaps they are and I just haven’t noticed?).

I‘d love to know your thoughts on this topic! Are asymmetrical toes a great idea or fun but rather pointless?
