Gmail app not automatically syncing mail

gmail app not auto syncing mail

i have my gmail accounts on the gmail app, i have it to sync the mail every 30 minutes but it seems like it will not do that and i have to manually open the app and fetch the mail. i checked the app permission for background app refresh, its turned on. but still not fetching new mail.

I have an iphone 15 pro max on latest ios
