Anybody play against a future NHLer growing up?

Watching 4 Nations and it popped in my head how wild it must have been for kids, even ones who were legit good but not pro good, to play against/with Connor McDavid. Got me wondering if anybody shared the ice with somebody who was a future NHLer back in the day and what it was like. Was it clear they were just different? In high school I played with a future good college player and against a younger kid who then went to juniors and then played a while in the AHL and played in like three NHL games, and I could sense the difference. It was always in the skating, seeing what true elite skating was. And also realizing, "Oh, I skate well and I stickhandle well separately but they do both at the same time in a way I never will." So, if you shared the ice with a future proper NHler, what did you take away from it?
