Gryffindor should have lost the Quidditch Cup in OotP

This is just my opinion and its not a huge deal, so please don't take it too seriously. I have almost never seen this topic brought up here so thought I would make a post.

In Harry's fifth year, after the Slytherin game, the team's three crucial players in Harry and the Weasley twins got suspended. From that point on, the Chasers and Seeker were the only good players. It was said multiple times in the fifth and even in the sixth book that their new beaters Andrew Kirke and Jack Sloper were no good, and Ron was going through terrible confidence issues. They got absolutely battered by Hufflepuff and Slytherin were the favourites.

But then against Ravenclaw, Ron suddenly got the inevitable and amazing power of love and saved everything even though he was a shit Keeper until the previous day. This should not have happened. Their Keeper and Beaters were terrible and Ginny was inexperienced. Cho was also a really good Seeker, as in PoA she, despite having an inferior broom, played very well against Harry who was on the Firebolt. After Gryffindor's victory in PoA and winning the House Cup the two years before that, this was their Cup to lose.

But, more importantly, this could have served as a great character development for Ron. Instead of having him be a hero on the pitch but off the page, we could see this take a toll on him, where he strives to be as good as his brothers but ends up being the cause for Gryffindor's loss. His brothers and his younger sister being better than him could have served as motivation for him. We could have seen him practise everyday in the summer of HBP with the help of Harry and Ginny and have him earn his spot on the Quidditch team instead of having it handed to him by Hermione. Also, all these practice sessions to help Ron could have also given us some Harry/Ginny moments.

Edit : Last but not least, it could have given other houses more shine, like Hufflepuff, which even the narrative says barely gets any glory, or Ravenclaw, who has almost no prominent characters in the story, or Slytherin, which is portrayed as second string to Gryffindor throughout the entire series.

Thoughts?
