Former Young Marine interested in learning about CAP.

Hey y'all I was in the Young Marines for a couple years about 10 years ago. I never heard of the Civil Air Patrol until today. Apparently YM, CAP, and the Scouts have beef lol?

Anyways I know CAP is a bit more professional and is officially affiliated with the USAF so I was curious how all it differs from what I experienced in YM. I seen folks mention getting to fly as well as help with disaster relief and other volunteer work. Most of YM is just disciple, drills, and survival skills. Some volunteer work but not nearly on the same level.

Any stories and info from former or active members as well as parents/volunteers would be awesome. CAP seems really cool and I'd love to learn as much as I can since I'm too old to join now.
