Vampires becoming night creatures

While watching the new season I got confused about the transformation of Drolta. If becoming a night creature makes a vampire immune to the sun why does Erzsebet not become one in the machine?

They retain their loyalty too in the show. Shouldn't every vampire get an upgrade like this and become a night creature in this logic?
