Background checks and debts

Hello.

I completed the interview and shared all my concerns, including the debt I have. The interviewers were quite understanding and informed me that if I have the opportunity to pay off my debt, it would strengthen my application.

I’m over thinking and wondering…

1. I am currently in the background/reference check process. Is it possible to update or change the references?

2. I have $3800 credit card debt that is 80days past due because of financial difficulties lately. Would this affect my application?

3. How long do background checks typically take for reservists?
