Downgrade from 4K 60Hz to 1440p high refresh rate?

I've had the same 4K 60hz 28 inch monitor for about 4 years now, but with games getting tougher and tougher to run at 4K with a 4070 (cough MH Wilds cough), I was wondering if it was worth "downgrading" from a 4k 60hz monitor to a 1440p high refresh rate monitor. I've heard that once you make the swap from 60fps to 120fps you can never go back, but also similarly heard that going from 1440p to 4K is night and day in terms of image quality.

For what it's worth, I mostly play singleplayer games like Elden Ring, Monster Hunter, etc, but there's so many factors like DLSS or 1440p ultra vs 4k medium/low settings that make this such a hard decision for me. Would love to hear your guys's opinions. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that with 4k, I'm basically forced to upgrade my setup whereas I think it could last a little longer at 1440p without upgrading.
