Orajel before or after nursing?

8 month old growing his 2nd set of teeth. Orajel really helps but I'm stump as to give it to him before or after nursing? I'm talking about middle of the night wakings due to teething pain.

Edit: im using baby orajel which is benzocaine free and approved by his pediatrician
