Does my game save work between consoles?

I recently bought and Xbox series S digital for the upcoming Series exclusive games. I only plan on using for those games. I know the save transfers from Xbox to Xbox, but if I play Fallout as an example on my Xbox S will my save be updated on my Xbox One and vice versa? Or should I just stick to playing certain games on a specific console?
