Have you guys worn out a recoil spring?

My dot died on my PDP and a friend said it might be that my recoil spring needs to be replaced; that a worn spring doesn’t dampen the reciprocation of the slide effectively anymore and can damage red dots. I have about 6k rounds on it + whatever the previous owner put thru it. I ordered 2 replacement recoil springs because 6k is not a lot of shooting for me. 2-3 months max.

I have the ZRTS Long Stroke System on my PDP MSF 5”. I’m replacing the zrts 14 lb with another 14 because this gun will never see anything spicier than blazer brass, and I like how easy the slide is to manipulate.

Anyone else ever have to replace a recoil spring or kill a dot with their gun? What are the signs that its time for a new recoil spring?
