Is the 5x on entertainment purchases worthless?

I just tried to book a theater show through the portal to get the 5X on entertainment. The price for two tickets at $212 each seemed somewhat reasonable. But when I went to check out the total was $593. Taxes and fees (most of it service fee per ticket) were over $84 per ticket. Then looking at Ticketmaster the price was $394 for the tickets total. Is anyone actually buying through the portal to get 5X when prices go through the roof because of fees?
