my first UNAS install - my opinion so far, and observations

Hi - it's Feb 8th, 2025

this will be (in the future) an amazing product. But this is what I see now -

1) they say RAID 6 is available now - I am running the latest firmware, and all updates. I don't see RAID 6.

2) I thought that the recycle bin (trash bin) would hold stuff deleted from an SMB mount on the computer. It does not. It only holds stuff that you trashed from within the UNAS interface - not the "drive" that you mounted via SMB onto your computer. So when someone says "oh crap - I accidentally deleted that folder from my desktop mounted drive" - well, for right now - TOO BAD.

3) I have seven 24 TB Seagate EXOS drives in the system. Because of BTRFS instead of ZFS, it's going to take a day and a half for this to finish "syncing" - so right now, during the initial build, I am seeing less than 300 MB/sec on a Ubiquiti 10G network. Hopefully this will double when the syncing is done on the 7 drives. I understand that this is only an ARM Cortex A7 CPU (that CPU in QNAP and Synology also sucks).

One thing for sure - it's EASY to setup. It's easy to figure out how to get around (I watched about 20 YouTube videos and made notes before doing this).
