Nepo baby inheriting my dad's company lol
Man I dunno, shit has really hit the fan in the past year or two and I might end up inheriting my dad's trucking company.
He made this trucking company as a "family business" with himself and my mom as the two employees a couple years ago. Basically he's an owner operator who offsets a lot of the administrative capacity of the business to my mom while he takes on the actual delivery and maintenance portion.
Anyway his health is failing and at the end of last year he gives me and my husband a call seeing if we want to get into the business, eventually running it as owner-operators ourselves with them taking an entirely administrative role and eventually banking that this company will support them in their final years.
Anyway hes putting us through CDL training and supplying trucks so it's something we're pursuing. Prior to this me and my husband were just doing our own thing trying to get by. A year ago we were doing maintenance work and delivering packages for Amazon, now we're possibly going to be running a logistics company within the next two years.
I have no fucking clue man how to do any of this. Im okay at driving a big rig but as far as running a company goes I've got no idea. I want to do good by anyone we employ. I just don't know how to do that, or if it would even be possible.
Anyway if you've got some piece of advice on how to do the best by your employees, or are a truck driver and know what you're wanting, let me know.
At this point I want to make sure that our employees are well taken care of. Maybe I'm dumb and naieve
