Does anyone else feel bad for Patty and Selma?

They seem to be stuck in a co-dependant relationship with one another. The moment one of them tries to do something else with their life or be with another person, the other one can't just be happy for them (the majority of the time).

Selma especially has shown several times that she's unhappy with her life and wants more out of it. She always ends up having to settle for less, (though I know she has a child now, but the show seems to treat that as a joke more than an actual loving parent-child relationship).

Patty seems the most content with things the way they are, but has also given up things she wanted in order to go back to the way things were with Selma again.

I will say, I haven't been watching the newer Simpsons seasons, so I'm not aware if there are any changes to this dynamic.
