Subj combi: Econs vs Lit
Hi! A prospective J1 student taking hybrid combi (Chem Math Geog Econs/Lit) here 😮 I’m really torn apart between Econs or lit since I’ve had little to no experience in both ! Aiming to get into RVHS/ ACJC (maybe the department/ teachers also matter ?)
Lit: I did score pretty well for Lit in sec 2 (iirc 80% overall which was my 2nd best humanities right after Geog) and although I do feel my writing skills are lowkey subpar ,, I really do feel quite a strong connection to lit. I realised that I really enjoy analysing texts and poems and from what I can remember, I loved studying for lit when I looked into each and every character in a given book and how they are presented. Not glazing 😥 but I think that lit is actually a really beautiful (???) subject .. (not romanticising it .. ??🫣🫣🫣??????) Cons: 1) didn’t take it for Os. 2) if I don’t really have a natural flair in writing, it’s unlikely I will do well and it puts my RP at risk 🥲
Econs: Read through some of the holy grail notes and I don’t understand a single thing 😅😅😅😅… I honestly don’t really like the idea of studying economics cuz i don’t think it appeals to me very much … I feel like I would dread studying for it but that’s js me 🥲🥲 Cons: 1) apparently some JC cohorts score avg S/U/E with the highest being a C. 😥😥😥😥😥😥 2) not a lot of passion 3) Econs is (apparently) the subject that most people take up tuition for
Everything aside, I know that scoring well is also heavily dependent on resources and teachers (!!!!) given to a certain subject, but most importantly my drive and commitment. From what I know, RV has a better lit department than Econs and I cannot take 4H2 in AC (needs raw 8) so my lit/econs would be a H1!.
Thank youu !! 😋😋😋😋😋😋
