How would you integrate aliens into Rio universe?

I have been thinking about the discussion about the BPP we had some time ago. And it led me to think about something else.

The BPP is an organization that fits into Rio. But it also has more potential. I mentioned there that they also prepare humanity for possible conflicts with aliens, by developing technology that could be used against them, ansd also, ironically, comabting anti - laien sentiments and human suprematics (so aliens will not have a reason to attack). Biut it is only from the BPP's side.

I awant to ask you a quesation: with or without using the BPP, how owuld you integrate aliens into the Rio universe? To streamloine it, assume that, a few years after (or weven during) the Rio series, humaanity achieved a technological breakthrought that allowed FTL travel and other science fiction echnlogies, either suddenly or gradually. How would you integrate it with the setting and the charatcers?
