My 84k mile RR Lux
I recently scored this 2012 HSE Lux for $1,000 from a friend of mine after he dumped a lot of time and money into it,he did the timing chains and then the engine locked up on him and decided he wasn’t gonna put anymore time into it. I bought it without hesitation not sure how I planned on fixing it but I didn’t care about that. Long story short,I was at PullAPart for something completely unrelated and I saw a wrecked Jaguar XF and it had a motor in it that was not seized and felt like it had good compression while turning it over by hand. I bought it and then found a LKQ Stamp on the front timing cover with 44k miles written on it underneath the stamp. I paid $265 for the engine and then put it in the backseat of my 2005 BMW 330i sedan to transport it back home. I spent the majority of January doing the engine swap in front of my house with major anxiety from having past issues with my neighbors calling code enforcement on me and having my cars towed to the impound when I’m not home. This was a HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK. But I Defeated the task without having to go through that bull shit again and now I have a super cool new set of wheels and it didn’t even cost me $1500. The paperwork in the glovebox showed this thing cost $109,000 in 2012. In my head 2012 wasn’t that long ago and the overall condition of this RR Lux is 9.5/10 in my opinion. I’m excited for the new experience and how great it feels driving something this nice. I feel like I finally made it to the big league with this one 😂
