John McCain

I think McCain is very overrated when it comes to failed candidates. People say he was a good candidate but he ran at the wrong time since the economy was horrible and people were blaming the party in power for it. And while that definitely played a big role in his defeat, I think part of that was because he didn’t exactly inspire confidence during with his speeches. Whatever you think of Obama you can’t deny that he inspired hope that things would be better in the future during a crisis. Even in W’s book he said Obama came off as more presidential than McCain did. McCain also tried to portray this nice guy image while paying for dozens of negative ads against Obama which he never had the courage to use against Obama to his face during the debates. There’s this clip that always gets shown of McCain where he tells his supporters that Obama isn’t a terrorist and that he’s a decent man. Which is nice and all but those are flames that he fanned with his attack ads. McCain was also a huge warmonger and supported the war in Iraq. Look theres no doubt he served his country well in the military and for 35 years in Congress. But I think he would have made a pretty bad president.
