Meta Quest - buying a game as a gift?

Hi, Quest noob here. I want to get son a game for Xmas but on the Meta store it appears I need to log into Meta account to do so. He is getting the headset for Xmas so does this mean I can’t buy any games until he has it set up? Many thanks
