What Are Your Thoughts on Rocket Raccoon & Groot? Let’s Break It Down! CL:13,700

Happy New Years eve! We’re kicking off the end of 2024 with Rocket Raccoon & Groot, and I wanted to share my first impressions after trying it out in a few decks. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Card Overview: A 3/3 that can move once after your opponent plays a card in its lane, stealing 1 power per card played. This makes it a pseudo-control card that forces tough decisions for your opponent.

Pros:

  • Scales power well over time (up to a 3/5+ with just one card).
  • The movement ability offers flexibility to reposition in tricky scenarios (e.g., Sanctum Sanctorum).
  • Works in multiple archetypes like Move, Control, and even Surfer decks.

    Cons:

  • Feels weaker if played late game without priority.

  • Vulnerable to meta counters like Luke Cage and Shadow King.

  • Misplays can happen if you misjudge your opponent’s moves.

I’ve been testing it in two archetypes:

  • A Move Ramp/Affliction deck with cards like Kraven, Miles Morales, and Luna Snow.
  • An Ongoing Control deck featuring Nebula, Lizard, and Spectrum.

Both decks have shown some exciting potential, but I’d love to hear from you! How are you incorporating Rocket & Groot into your decks? Have you found any synergies or counters that stand out?

Also, what’s your overall rating for the card? I’m leaning toward a 4/5—it’s strong, but I think it’ll get better with future card releases.
