Just found a mistake/misprint in the book!
I’ve read this book from multiple editions from publishers in at least 2 countries.
The edition I founded the mistake was from 1991 by Archer in London.
It’s set when Muldoon and Gennaro find Nedry’s corpse. My page numbers are 273-4 and it reads:
The procompsognathids squeaked and hopped up and down as Gennaro opened the back door and took out gray metal tubing and /page break/ a stainless-steel case. “It’s all still there,” he said. He handed two dark cylinders to Gennaro. “What are these?” Gennaro said.
The implications of this are amazing. Gennaro opens a jeep door, hands a rocket launcher and two to himself! and then asks himself! what they are.
Jurassic Park isn’t a sci-fi technological thriller at all, but rather an existential gaze into neurosis. Spielberg recognised this so quickly killed him off on the toilet so he could make bank on merchandise and a 7 (and counting) film franchise. The proof is out there sheeple.
I can understand how this could be missed because of the page break, or Chrighton’s style of writing dialogue. It would be interesting to see if this error has survived future printings.
Apologies in advance if there are any formatting issues.
