Am I liable? (Bidet flood)

Hi guys. I was wondering what happens here. I am renting a place, starting August 1st.

I installed a bidet. All was working fine for 5-6 days. In the middle of the night (3am), the bidet handle burst (where the pipe connects into the handle of the bidet) and flooded my apartment (and 6 floors below).

The bidet was installed by me, and worked fine for 5-6 days. It burst randomly in the night, from no fault of my own, but I'm wondering if this can be considered 'gross negligence' by insurance companies.

Essentially - am I likely to be liable for this? A plumber was not called out, nor did I get confirmation from my landlord - I just turned the water supply off, plugged in the bidet, turned it back on, and all was working fine for a few days.

I'm almost certain this will get pinned on me and I'm very worried about it.
