How to justify expensive hobbies?
Add all bills are paid. All vehicles paid off. No debts. Only thing we make payments on is our mortgage. Just curious how you guys justify your purchases.
I know this is all personal and priority based but those who have more than one hobby and expensive ones at that, how do you justify upgrading equipment, and spending lots of money on stuff for you personally? Just want this to be an open discussion.
Example: For me I love boating, wakeboarding and surfing. Dirt biking, Side by sides, camping, golfing, kayaking, and my favorite… shooting and hunting. Been into the long range game for a bit and hitting a 10 and 12 inch plate at 1000 yards is becoming easy. We have to shoot coyotes, badgers, foxes, ground squirrels, and porcupines regularly on our property because they attack the chickens, dig holes that the horses and cows fall in and fall through the ground and they break their legs. Hunting at night would be ideal but that’s where the high expense of shooting gets even more crazy. I want to get a thermal scope. An average thermal scope (literally just the scope) costs $2.5k to $4k. They start at about $800 and go up past $7,000… the cheaper ones aren’t worth it as I’ve seen them in person and wouldn’t work great for what I need. How can I justify spending $2k-4k on my hobby?! How do you all justify it!?
