From 565 to 715: My GMAT Journey
Hey everyone, just wanted to share my GMAT journey in case it helps anyone out there. I first took the exam back in February and, since I usually did well in school, I assumed I could figure things out with free resources like YouTube videos. Well, turns out I wasn’t as prepared as I thought—I ended up with a 565, and my Quant was in the 36th percentile. I couldn’t retake right away, and I have some breathing room because I’m finishing undergrad this year (2025) and plan to start my Master’s in summer 2025.
Given the extra time, I decided to invest in Target Test Prep (TTP) for my second attempt. It isn’t the cheapest option, but I 100% believe it was worth every penny. TTP literally walks you through everything from the fundamentals all the way to those tricky GMAT “special” strategies. Plus, there’s a massive question bank, which helped me get really comfortable with each topic. I used TTP actively for about six weeks and retook the GMAT in December 2024—this time I scored a 715!
Of course, part of that improvement is because I had more time and felt way less stressed than before. But I also credit TTP for keeping me on a structured study schedule, which definitely made a huge difference. If anyone has questions about my journey, feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM! Good luck with your prep!
