Expectations on Parasomnia
The date is getting closer now and I have been thinking, as for me the singles were underwhelming too. But recently I watched the youtube interview of JP and MP on ProgReport, and that gave me a whole different perspective on what to expect. These guys just got back together, and without having to think about how to be more revolutionary, more progressive, exploring new landscapes and pushing boundaries further, they want to make their first album in 15 years, in the way it feels right to them. This is probably an album composed through channeling that comfort-zone chemistry of their musical comradery and crafted rather more intuitively than strategically. And they have a right to do so.
These guys got back together not because they weren't thriving with MM in the picture. They were making amazing music without MP as well. They wanted to get back together, because they wanted to. Just for the sake of making music with him again. And if the first fruits of them getting back together is gonna be reminiscent of where they find comfort together musically, so be it.
This album will probably not become a top tier DT album for me, given the musical approach of the first 3 singles, but I guess I need to view this album as to be their way of celebrating their reunion, and I really appreciate that.
Excited to hear what is to be unraveled on February 7th!
