Why are the modern and upcoming kannada movies not at par with other south indian movie industries?

I've been getting into watching more South Indian movies lately. Being a Kannadiga myself, I tried exploring various movies but compared to Malayalam and telugu movies, we don't even seem close with the quality of stories, effects, action, CGI, etc.?

What are we lacking that they are not? This isn't a hate post. Just curious.
