The best decision I made in 2024? Quitting Instagram.m

I had a decent number of followers and spent so much time thinking about what to post, how to be engaging, and how to keep an audience interested. It felt like a constant performance, and honestly, it just stopped being fun. I am so glad my livelihood does not depend on social media because that kind of pressure is exhausting.

Quitting Instagram did not change who I am. I have always had my hobbies and interests, but stepping away made it easier to enjoy them fully. Without the endless scrolling or overthinking, I now have the time and space to focus on things that truly matter. Sewing, painting, working out, spending time with my dogs, and simply living life for myself.

Another thing that changed is how much time I now have to reflect on my finances. Not being on Instagram gave me the mental clarity to consciously research markets, make informed decisions, and build a strong financial portfolio. I started focusing on long-term goals, planning my investments better, and feeling more in control of my financial future.

It is one of the most empowering shifts I have experienced 🙌🏾

Few reasons I left? The toxic influencer culture, Watching people push fake positivity, fake lifestyles, and an endless cycle of consumption, just to sell more products, was disturbing. Everyone’s showing off their perfect relationships, flawless vacations, and picture-perfect days. It’s like everyone is trying to prove how amazing their lives are, but it’s all staged. All the over the top trends, And of course the stupid and disturbing “akka” trends

And the worst part? It pulls you into this never-ending loop of comparison and questioning. You start to wonder if you are doing enough or if your life measures up. It is exhausting and completely unnecessary.

I still work in the digital space and understand the value of online platforms, but Instagram is not for me.

The noise, the pressure, the constant need to curate, it is not worth it. Stepping away has been one of the most freeing and rewarding decisions of my life.

If you are on the fence about quitting, let me tell you this. Life feels so much better when you are not living for an audience or chasing likes.

You get to focus on what truly makes you happy without distractions. And that? That is priceless 🥂
