Breaking the mackerel barrier
Late to the tinned fish game but have been eating a ton of it the last few months. I've been trying hard to diversify but have only been able to handle the salmon-tuna-trout-mussels-scallops offerings. I really REALLY want to incorporate mackerel but haven't been able to stomach any of the ones I've tried and I have tried some higher end options (Nuri, Patagonia, Bela, King Oscar, JOSE) but still can't get into it. Luckily my husband loves them so they don't go to waste. My guess is I need to go with something really spicy/saucy that cancels out that tiny fish flavor I can't seem to adjust to. Any recommendations ?
