Theory on the Tomb's Sentinel Artifact
This is a theory about whether the Tomb's Sentinel Artifact appearance is just re-used assets instead of actually being the Odin Artifact from Voyage.
First off, if we are following the Chaos Story, the Odin artifact makes the lore a lot more confusing. In 1908, Archibald finds the Sentinel Artifact and dies to a mimic in the boss arena after approaching the Artifact. So then if it is the Odin Artifact, it went from being sealed at the Dark Aether boss arena to the Titanic and them back to being sealed again in the Dark Aether. Sure it could happen after Ancient Evil without any explaining, but it just adds an unneeded complexity to the story.
Now if Treyarch just re-used the asset, I think the Sentinel Artifact in this map is supposed to be the Janus/Roman Artifact.
- The Tomb has a lot of roman connections in its design, Ice Staff steps and in its intels.
- Janus is a Roman God with no known equivalent in Greek mythology.
- Richtofen funded the Project Janus to use Aetherium and search the Sentinel Artifact.
It could also be that for the Dark Aether Story, Treyarch is picking up just the parts it wants from Chaos like it is doing with Aether, so the Odin Artifact was never onboard the Titanic, but that would be just another negative point for me in the narrative aspect of this map.
