Cannot be revived in caustic brine

I was punching brain jars in the starting area and it spewed brine on the floor. I walked in it and died. My friend (playing 2p co-op) uses heal, revivify, help, etc., to get me back up. No matter what he uses, or my saving throw, I get up and immediately die again from the brine. I'm unable to click and move away even though I'm spamming it. Should I just restart the game lol?
