Do I really have anything to worry about?
I want to start off by saying I think a lot of people hate on some places that they just have never been or tried to appreciate.
I am in the process of planning a 2 wk road trip starting in SF for 3 days going down the coast & finishing in Disneyland. We’re gonna be flying in from Denver. We are a family of 4 — 2 adults 2 kids 16 & 7
This isn’t our 1st time to CA but it is the kids. I’m from there but haven’t lived there since I was little & my husband lived there for a few yrs. Both of us love SF but haven’t been in a very long time.
We don’t plan on renting a car till the last day when we head out & I think we are planning on staying at the fairmont. We plan on doing all the typical ‘tourist things' and staying in the areas they recommend.
We have been told over and over we need to just ‘skip it' that it’s dangerous and just ran over by homeless. I live in a suburb of Denver but I’m very used to homeless. I also grew up in the PNW so it’s not a new thing — it just part of living in a city.
I was told today that it was actually reckless and just dangerous to bring my family there…. That I don’t get how much it’s changed. I don’t question that it probably very much has changed.
Honestly, is this something I really need to be thinking more into or is it mostly just fear mongering?
