Are 350z’s as quick as some claim to be?

My daily driver 07 350z, the handling is really good, the rotation in a corner is nice and the balance is pretty decent as well. I see guys talk about how their 350z has beaten BMW’s, Mustangs, Challengers. Is the Z really that quick? I’ve raced BMW’s before and they just absolutely dust me, all I’ve done is intake and exhaust. It’s alright in a straight line but it’s beating V8’s or turbo inline 6’s. You’d need to build the motor and go FI for that.
