Is it okay to leave the antenna off?

Since I cover my Z when at home, the antenna really bugs me when covering the car as it just makes it harder, plus it bends with the cover on and it feels like one day it won't straighten up anymore and will just be bent.

Do y'all think it's okay leaving the antenna hole exposed?

Edit: I tried adding pics but couldn't for some reason. My Z is a 08, btw.
