yet another what ski should I buy (currently on 2016 Armada AR7 87)
Hi there,
I'm in the market for buying new skis this season and I'd like to get some recommendations. I have looked already at numerous reviews but I'll not say what I was looking at to hear some fresh insights.
I'm 187cm long and 85kg heavy.
Ski buy history...
- 2005 Head iXRC 1100 sport carver ski with a shorter radius - it's been too long to remember if I liked these..
- 2010 Armada ARV all mountain ski, don't remember length and width but I really enjoyed them
- 2013 (2014 skis title is wrong, only found out after looking up the graphics...) Armada AR7 181cm/87mm width, free replacement for delaminated ARV ski (little did I know this was actually a park ski). I found them worse than the ARV's but learned to appreciate them over time.
- and here we are today.
What I want from the ski:
- Able to cruise around with the family and kids half of the time or so (AR7 does it perfectly)
- Ski must be able to also go fast on groomers without chatter in the tips like AR7 (or when on icy pistes) and perhaps learn to carve with them when not skiing together with the family/kids
- When there's fresh snow -> I like to search steeper pistes and/or venture out on the side of the pistes to catch powder (I now read somewhere that AR7's sink in powder, I realize I had to work hard but blamed it on technique, probably a mix of the two... but in any case a ski that does this better is appreciated).
- Oh, and maybe silly but added points when they fit in the ski holders at the side of a lift (damn twin tips!)
Thanks already in advance for any of your tips (and perhaps your feeling about the skis first hand or a comparison vs your old ones as extra read point, have read/seen enough reviews online already to hear again about the marketing claims).
